We are seeking to appoint an Alternative Provision Manager, on 20 month contract in the first instance, to oversee small, structured teaching groups for students showing signs of behavioural, social or emotional difficulties, particularly those who are experiencing disruption or distress outside of school. The aim is to provide a predictable environment in which students can build trusting relationships with adults and gain the skills they need in order to learn in larger classes. The core purpose of these groups is to support students to improve their
behavioural, social and emotional skills and:
to reduce the incidences of poor behaviour
to help students develop strategies to know when their behaviour was escalating and give them strategies to manage
to learn to behave appropriately
to enable students to understand the consequences of their behaviour.
Sir Harry Smith Community College is an 11-18 Academy, with over 1,000 students on roll, proud of its traditional values and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning and its standards of discipline and respect. The College serves the market town of Whittlesey, seven miles outside of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
