The college was fortunate to have a visit from Baroness Shephard this week, as part of UK Parliament Week. Baroness Shephard spoke to our 6th Form students and led discussions with them.
Principal, Dawn White, said: “It was an honour to receive a visit from Baroness Shephard to the college this week. Students found their discussions with her engaging and aspirational and she helped to bring parliament and politics to life. We are incredibly grateful to her for taking the time to visit.”
Chief Executive Officer, Dr Matthew Laban, said, “We were delighted that, as part of UK Parliament Week, we could welcome former Secretary of State for Education, Baroness Shephard, to Sir Harry Smith Community College. Baroness Shephard met with all our Sixth Formers and discussed her career as an MP, Cabinet Minister and now member of the House of Lords. This was an excellent opportunity for our students to learn more about parliamentary democracy and to discuss current affairs. We are grateful to Baroness Shephard for giving up her time to visit the college and talk to so many students.”
